Why Use Organic Dry Shampoo?

If organic dry shampoo has not yet found its way into your hair routine, I highly encourage you to give it a chance. Organic Dry Shampoo is meant to extend the time in between hair cleanses, while additionally helping to deodorize, absorb grease, and add both volume and texture.

For those of you who will be trying organic dry shampoo for the first time, please keep in mind that over the first month you will notice differences in your scalp, as your scalp will be trying to balance itself by producing natural oils again (it is common for your hair to overproduce oil for the first two weeks, so don't get discouraged at first if you don't see immediate results). In time you will find that organic dry shampoo and the natural oils that are produced from your scalp will work hand in hand, while also preventing damage caused from over washing your hair and scalp (YES, your hair can and will grow longer with less washings and proper care). The most common question I hear from an individual when considering to give organic dry shampoo a test run is 'What if I work out or go to the gym?' I will personally admit that after years of using organic dry shampoo in between my hair washes, I only currently wash my hair 1-2 times a week and still work out about 3-4 times a week. After a workout I will apply organic dry shampoo, and the greasy feeling is gone. This is probably the hardest part for someone who is newly switching over to organic dry shampoo that exercises.

How to Apply Organic Dry Shampoo

My one piece of advice for your introduction to Organic Dry Shampoos that are non aerosol, is finding out which method of application works best for you. I personally have two methods of application that work well with organic hair powder!

  • The quickest method to applying organic dry shampoo is by taking different sections of your hair and lightly sprinkling the powder very lightly onto your scalp. Once you have sprinkled it around your scalp, gently rub the powder in until you can no longer see the powder. Be sure you don't add too much organic dry shampoo, or you will end up not being able to rub the powder completely into your scalp.
  • My favorite method when I have a little bit more time for applying organic dry shampoo is with a bristle brush and a hair dryer. First take your bristle paddle brush and sprinkle the organic hair powder lightly onto it, then brush around your scalp, until the dry shampoo is evenly distributed. Finally pick up the blow dryer, and with a cool blast gently use the combo of the cool air blast from the blow dryer, along with your fingers to distribute the organic dry shampoo throughout your scalp and hair. (If you're look for some volume in your hair, try flipping your head upside down while doing this method).
