Exploring a 10 mile beach in Barbuda wearing my favorite Made in USA bikini

Swoon swimwear - Made in USA - Ethical Swimwear - Noelle Lynne - Photographer Justin Nuland - Florum Fashion Magazine - Fash Revolution - Pink Pool Flamingo Floatie

My last blog post was on sustainable swimsuits, this post however is on my favorite Made in USA bikini from Swoon Swimwear. While the fabric of this suit may not be made of recycled material, this suit has a low carbon footprint, helps keep jobs in America (specifically Milwaukee), and is reversible (meaning one swimsuit is really two)!

If you notice the black heart on 'Mr Pink' you'll see my repair, after he got punctured. It was an easy fix and saved a lot of plastic by repairing him, instead of throwing him away and buying a new flamingo floatie.

One of the reasons I was so impressed by Swoon Swimwear is that the brand is it transparent with why they choose to produce swimsuits in America. One statistic in particular that was listed on their website, makes you realize just how easy it is to make a difference, as it is something you already do each day (spending money). By choosing American made products, you put the power of your dollar to good use and a good cause.

4.7 million manufacturing jobs have been lost between February 2001 and February 2009. If Every American Spent an Extra 18¢ Per Day on U.S. American Goods We Could Create 200,000 U.S. jobs.

You'll see from the MANY images that this swimsuit is comfortable, cute, and perfect for playing in the water with. I choose to share a few photos to my visit of the tiny island in the Caribbean called Barbuda (the sister island to Antigua). If you are ever looking to get away to a remote place with only about 1,500 other people on a beautiful island, then this is the vacation for you. Its perfect for meditation, beach runs, swims, and of course floating on a pink flamingo named Mr. Pink! You wont find many restaurants here, there are only a few hotels and flights only come in a few times a week (so sailboat is a popular way to visit).

6 sustainable swimsuit brands you need to know about this summer...

Every summer I find myself searching and searching for sustainable, ethical or organic swimsuit brands. Believe me when I say that this takes hours, weeks, months to come up with the best (that are fashionable and something you'll receive a compliment or two when wearing)>

So I decided to share my hard work with all you ladies out their, because nothing is better then going for a swim in a swimsuit that you know didn't impact the earth in a negative way. (Bonus: Some of these swimsuits are made from material that is recycled from plastic in the oceans and fishing nets).

1. Elle Evans Sustainable Swimwear

This Australian brand is one to keep an eye on, not only do they make amazing swimwear however they also carry ethical active wear (literally the cutest running pants and sports bras I have ever seen). Another aspect of their swimwear is that almost everything is reversible, so you can have two swimsuits instead of one.

The fabric they use is called Econyl, which is made from recycled plastics and fabrics (Find out more HERE).

2. Hot-as-Hell Swimwear

This United States brand is one of my favorites to recently enter the game of suatainable swimwear. One of my favorite things about the swimsuits from this brand are the ability to change the styles (they come with a manual, so you know how to adjust the strings to create new looks).

The fabric used for the swimsuits is called ELF, which is made in Sri Lanka & is extremely durable and has a resistance to chlorine. (Find out more about ELF HERE) I also love that Hot-As-Hell uses a digital printing technique that uses 95% less water.

3. Sage LA Rock

Sage LA Rock is a great brand that gets right to the point with why their swimsuits are ethical. First off the fabric is Made in Italy from recycled plastics from the ocean, second they make the suits in LA so you can proudly wear a Made in LA swimsuit to the beach.

Find out more about the fabric they use HERE.

4. Greenlee Swimwear

Greenlee Swim has a motto of 'Swimwear with a conscious,' and I couldn't love it more. You can find them on Instagram easily by using the hashtag #LittleRecycledBikini (Click Here to see). The best part is not only do they make swimsuits, however they recently started making resort wear and cover ups.

Their fabrics used are made from 82%-83% recycled fibres (Find out more HERE).

5. Shapes in the Sand

If you have ever looked for a mermaid swimsuit, look no further then Shapes in the Sand. This Australian brand is one to watch out for as they start their third collection (which happens to feature the above mermaid inspired bikini).

Their fabric used is made from LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ containing Econyl®, a fibre made using ghost nets and waste from landfills (Find out more HERE). Econyl also happens to be the same fabric that Elle Evans Swimwear uses in their ethical workout clothes and swimwear.

6. Amara Tulum

Amara Tulum is a brand that takes straight to the beaches of Mexico, I just love the originality of the shapes and prints they use. They just so happen to design and make all their swimsuits in Tulum as well.

The fabric used is Made in Italy and similar to Elle Evans Swim & Shapes in the Sand made from Econyl fabrics.

I hope this list of my favorite 6 brands of sustaibale, recycled swimwear helps you to find the perfect bikini or one piece this summer. If you know a brand that I don't know about, please email me at bonjour(at)florumfashion.com or comment below.

xoxo
